I hope they are reading, Peter! They have no message (can’t do politic); they have no understanding of the medium (can’t do modern media, which is in any case owned by the right); and the zone is flooded with shit. If they don’t sort this out quickly and spend the next three years getting it right, I fear we are doomed to an awful future.

In the late 90’s, I was working on an ad campaign for the launch of the Working Family Tax Credit and met Gordon Brown. He took me aside after a meeting and asked “how do we get our message across?”. This was still in the first term, and he was worried. New Labour won an election with the help of some great slogans, but once in power, the media became hostile. Same goes for the Tories. From the Coalition on they have struggled to communicate success stories. Because the British media don’t like positive political stories. They like dirt and scandal and u-turn.
