Unfortunately, that is all they promised. But do you think for one minute that Maggie worried about her victories and whether she had a “mandate”. No, one thing I can say about her, she knew what she wanted to do and went on and did it even tho she ruined the country for decades. I just wish we would take a leaf out of her book and stop worrying about “middle England” and put some proper socialist policies through just like the 1945-51 Labour government whose financial situation was far worse than the one we are in now.
This is spot on. There are problems with Labour’s approach in trying to suggest we can get more growth and somehow “reset” our relationship with the EEU without concrete measures. I tend to think that at present it is unlikely that we could re-enter the EEC tho most people now support that. But in a sense it doesn’t matter that much. It was the Deal that messed us up. It was a cock up and disastrous. So, yes, let’s try to renegotiate that and attempt to have an arrangement where we go back into the EEU trading area or even the Customs Union which was always an option. And who cares if we have free movement of labour? It will be better for us.
How can relations be reset with trade and exchange relationships for instance?
I just received an e-mail with worthless excuses (rather like point point p, pee etc. instead of the legal DECIMAL) about Labour's E. U. "policy". I think we earned a debate in Parliament through petitions but we may still be angered by excuses.
But the danger for Labour is that if the Tory/Reform vote in the Red Wall reunites around one candidate, that candidate would have an average of 18,444 votes against Labour's 17,000 approx.
But would it? Given the way that people are changing their minds anyway? I think what we need is competency from Labour and to be honest, we haven’t had a lot of that. If, however, by “resetting” whatever that means our relationship with the EEC in a positive way, like rejoining the Trading area etc, we can improve our economy which we will we won’t loose those votes
The myth is that Labour won the election by anything other than default. It has no mandate for anything other than "be a bit more competent".

I like the comment "a car without a motor".
