What has been shown is that the Constitution of which Americans are so proud is fundamentally flawed. The basic principle of separation of executive, legislature and judiciary does not exist.
Those failings have been brutally exposed. If America survives it needs to go back to the drawing board.
You need to look at the 22nd amendment in full. The bar is against election not "serving".
"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."
Also 12th amendments states that 'But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.' By serving two terms, Trump should in theory be ineligible so that wold prevent him being a VP candidate as suggested at the end.
The problem here is not really a constitutional one, although the USA law does not preclude Trump standing in 2028, it seems to me that the spirit of the law meant just that. In my opinion, it won’t make much difference anyway as I think within less than a year Trump will be very unpopular. If, however, he used this loophole, then got somehow elected, the Supreme Court will rule in his favour because it is possibly the most corrupt court in the USA consisting mainly of people that Trump has bribed with all sorts of free gifts.
…here’s one fun fact for politically impaired americans: once you install dictator peacefully you can not peacefully remove them, regime never play by the rules or follow the law, it’s systemic lawlessness and corruption, remember impeachment and mockery of it made by republicans, defying subpoenas and laughing in everyone’s face…? …that was a good example of the dynamics to come, fascism is not an ideology, it’s the way to take and hold power - and they got it

UKs unwritten constitution not looking so bad.
The US constitution is a mess

Well, in that case what’s all the fuss about and this article has suddenly become redundant
Trump's view is that he has been elected three times, 2016, 2020 and 2024 so isn't he ineligible already.
…and what did trump say ?

Trump does not care about rules. Thanks for great piece.
A written constitution, combined with American culture, is a license to print money….for lawyers.
What a terrifying thought that he might yet run again!
