In Doncaster and North Tyneside the Conservatives actually gained in share of the vote. In Runcorn they collapsed. The difference between a Reform win and a Reform defeat (by Labour) seems to be the ability of the Conservative Party to get voters out. The failure to mount a strong campaign in Runcorn may well be seen as the moment at which the party consigned itself to irrelevance.
It's never a good time for a large party to introduce electoral reform, it for the sake of good representation and policy, surely now is the time? I saw John Curtice giving Bridget Phillipson the facts on TV yesterday. It I fear Labour is too tribal to want to share power.
Has the voter ID business cost the Tories votes?
It's certainly remiss of Labour to not reverse the mayoral voting system.

Very alarming how well Reform UK is doing. At this rate, we can indeed look forward to -- or dread the prospect of -- Nigel Farage as Prime Minister.
